I realised I haven't written one of these in ages, so I decided to come up with something to talk about.

I've noticed that often what I consider to be naivety or *unintelligence* comes from one of the basic traits of human nature. We try hard to define the world around us, and look for similarities, re-occurrences, and simplicities to make our definitions easier to understand. It takes curiosity and the desire to learn and understand completely to make us smarter; we are unsatisfied until we feel we know enough. I wonder though, if some of our largest conflicts arise because we are unable to, or refuse to, learn more about the thing we disagree about. We may define someone, based on our first impression, as rude or annoying, and the reverse, we may also define friends and those close or important to us as unquestionably *right* and truthful. We trap ourselves in absolutes by defining everything in general terms, and not leaving the possibility for difference. Though often times, we can be just predictable enough to confirm the image, and truthfully, while it can be painful to watch when someone fits or fulfills their stereotype, and even more so when they do in a negative way, it happens all the time. The roles and basic definitions wouldn't be accepted if they didn't appear to be justified. In any case, it's an interesting thing to see how everyone perceives each other's *images*, and how they fabricate their own.
